Brugmansia Samba Dancer
Brugmansia Samba Dancer
Another stunning cultivar curtesy of the hybridizing skills of Monika Gottschalk. The cross is Carmencita x Ecuador Pink.
The flowers hang down pendant style. The long tendrils are emphasized by the extra ruffly skirts. Depending on the weather the blooms can mature to champagne color or they may stay pure white. There are four more buds to open up soon...One of the prettiest flowers i have come across in a while.

Gary, Samba Dancer is well suited for hybridizing, Have you already thought of a good pollen parent?

Monika, there really was only one choice i had for pollen because all the pollen I had was old pollen. The only thing I had was fresh Rosalie pollen, so that's what they were hit with.
I would think that for floridians this would be a good choice because both brugs are suited for florida and the genes of both parents are great. I just harvested the pollen so it was very fresh.

This is indeed a very interesting and in my opinion also a promising cross. Rosalie has the genes of the original 'Ocre' and she is one parent of excellent hybrids.xeriscape8321 hat geschrieben:Monika, there really was only one choice i had for pollen because all the pollen I had was old pollen. They took :D Congratulations Gary :)
How long do you have to wait until the pod is ripe?
If I am lucky, early summer pollinations are ripe after appr. five months, sommer pollinations take longer with appr. 8 months.

I am envious :( The pollinations I made in August will need at least another two more months, before the first pod can be picked.xeriscape8321 hat geschrieben:Usually 3-4 months...but these are growing faster than I have seen before....so now i just wait!!!
